Term 2, Week 4 (21/11/25)

🌦 Wow, the weeks are flying by!

This week has definitely reminded us that winter is on its way! ❄️ Please make sure your child comes to school with a warm, waterproof coat – we’ll still be heading outside for playtimes and PE, and we don’t want anyone getting too cold! πŸ§₯

✍️ English – Rhythm and Poetry (RAP)

We’ve had so much fun diving into the world of rap! 🎀 The children listened to the amazing poet Karl Nova, his poems really got us thinking about how words can be used to make a beat! We even tried rapping some of his work ourselves… I’m very impressed by the rapping skills we have in Rowan Class!

βž— Maths

  • Year 6 have wrapped up their fractions topic by finding fractions of amounts and even working out the whole using a fraction!
  • Year 5 have been adding fractions, including mixed numbers.

πŸ”¬ Science

This week was all about personal hygiene – why it’s important and how it keeps us healthy. The children had some brilliant discussions and even shared tips on staying fresh and germ-free!

🎨 Art

We’ve started exploring Dadaism – a quirky, creative art movement that really makes you think outside the box. πŸ–Œ The children loved looking at unusual pieces and imagining what they might create themselves. Watch this space for some wild and wonderful artwork! 🎭

🏰 History

We travelled back in time to the House of Wisdom in the ancient Islamic empire. πŸ“š Did you know people came from all over Europe and Asia just to learn there? The children were fascinated by how much knowledge was treasured back then – and how it shaped the world we know today. 🌍

πŸ’¬ PSHE

This week was Anti-Bullying Week. We talked about kindness, respect, and standing up for what’s right. πŸ’™ The children shared thoughtful ideas on how to make our school a safe and happy place for everyone.

🎢 Music

Our Gospel music journey continues! 🎡 The children learned about its roots in Christianity and its powerful role in history. They even tried singing some Gospel songs – and wow, the energy in the room was incredible! πŸ™Œ

πŸƒ PE

Fitness and tag rugby are still going strong! πŸ‰ The children are improving their scores every week – I’m proud of their determination and teamwork. πŸ’ͺ

πŸ› Looking Ahead

Next week is UK Parliament Week! Year 5 and 6 will be diving into democracy with lots of exciting activities – including writing letters to our local MP. Who knows, we might inspire some future politicians! πŸ—³

🌟 Golden Book Stars

Have a fantastic weekend, everyone! 😊
