Term 3, Week 5 (6/2/26)

🌟 This Week in Class! 🌟

What a busy (and very exciting!) week we've had! Let’s dive into everything we’ve been up to… 👀✨

✏️ English

This week, we turned into top-notch interviewers! 🎤
We wrote questions we’d love to ask the Hero Twins, then became them through role play to figure out how they might respond. So much drama, acting, and creative thinking! 🎭✨
We even acted out scenes from the story — plenty of giggles and brilliant performances!

➗ Maths

Year 5 have been smashing their work on fractions of amounts and learning how to use fractions as operators. 💪🧮
Year 6 have had a full-on fractions bonanza!
We explored:

  • Equivalent fractions
  • Fractions as division
  • Converting fractions into decimals
  • Understanding percentages
  • Changing fractions into percentages

🔬 Science

Our investigation this week was explosive (in a safe way 😉).
We mixed Bicarbonate of Soda and Vinegar to observe an irreversible reaction that creates Carbon Dioxide.
How do you check for CO₂? Inflate a balloon with it, of course! 🎈😄
The children LOVED watching the reaction, and we wrote up our scientific findings too.

🏺 History

We stepped back into Mayan times to explore the roles of men and women in society.
The biggest surprise? 🤯
Women could be rulers, priests, and even warriors — though with strict rules attached! A fascinating lesson!

🕌 RE

We revisited the 3rd Pillar of Islam: Zakat.
The children learned why Muslims give 2.5% of their wealth to help those in need. A lovely session on generosity and community. ❤️

🤸 PE

This week we practised travelling safely on the apparatus in Gymnastics.
A reminder: children must take off shoes AND socks for safety. Some have been reluctant — please help encourage this at home! 😊

💛 PSHE

We learned some super important basic first aid, including how to help someone who is bleeding. The children handled this topic with great maturity! 👏

🎶 Music

Our song “Madina Tun Nabi” is sounding better every week! 🎵
We explored drones and melodies — the children are really getting into it!

🎨 Art

Our Mayan mask designs are ready to go!
Next week… decorating time! 🎭✨

Some children still do not have permission to bring a phone to school.

  • No earrings for PE (studs only in school).
  • Watches allowed — smart watches must be handed in with phones every morning.
  • No necklaces or other jewellery, please.

PE is on Tuesday and Friday (Gymnastics + Hockey).
