Term 1 Week 3

In Walnut Class this week we put ourselves in the shoes of Robinson Crusoe and created diary entries, detailing Robinson's experiences. We threw ourselves into role play tasks, creating open questions and used hot seating to further get in the role of Robinson and answer these, using our knowledge of the story.

In Maths we worked on flexibly partitioning hundred and thousand numbers and represented these using our part-whole model. We also spotted patterns when quickly adding 1,10,100 or 1,000 to a number, discussing which digit would change and why.

Through Science we explored light more, ordering a range of materials according to their properties and deciding which were most reflective. We create a conclusion based on our findings that the shiniest materials were often the most reflective.

In Geography, we explored the human and physical geography of Kent and will use this knowledge to now compare other islands with the UK. Please ask your child to tell you what they have learnt! We also showcased this learning through Computing where we started to create our own PowerPoint presentation all about Kent.

We hope you have a restful weekend and look forward to seeing you next week.
