Term 1 Week 4

This week in Literacy we have been looking at using punctuation correctly. We rehearsed a dialogue between the characters in our story, before using these ideas to practice punctuating direct speech correctly. We must remember to use closing punctuation before our speech marks! We also looked at how to use subordinating conjunctions to extend our sentences and applied this knowledge when creating a paragraph about Robinson Crusoe.

In Maths we have been continuing to look at place value. Year 3 have looked at estimating numbers to 1000 on a number line, and using this to compare and order numbers. Year 4 have looked at comparing and ordering numbers to 10,000 and converting numbers to Roman Numerals.

In Science we used mirrors to investigate how light is reflected and how we can change the direction that light is travelling. We recorded our findings.  In Art we looked at pointillism and created pieces of art to show how we could combine the three primary colours to make secondary colours. In Geography we explored the island of Malta, thinking about its human and physical geography. We started to make comparisons between Kent and Malta, particularly in the area of climate.

We hope you have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Daniells and Mrs Ali.
