This week in our Literacy we have worked hard to discuss and record our ideas by planning journey stories. After reading the story of Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx. we planned our own stories with characters who travel to Egypt, rescuing a relative from an evil monster. We completed our hot writes using all the features we have been learning this term.
In Maths we have used lots of retrieval in our own classes. We reviewed methods for multiplication, listening to a range of catchy pop tunes that have been adapted to help us learn our times tables. The Year 3 children also consolidated their understanding of multiplying and dividing by 8.
In History we revisited the process of mummification, using actions to help us remember each step. Please ask your children to show these to you and ask them to explain what happened at each of these stages. The children showcased this learning by finishing off their PowerPoint presentations.
In Computing, the children used their coding skills to code a pencil sprite to move and make marks along a page. The children had to review their code against a given code, identifying where mistakes had been made and why. They were then challenged to create a maze background for this sprite to move along.
Through PE we identified patch and point balances and practised these in groups. The children will add one of each of these balances to their sequence next week and will perform this to their peers.
In Art, the children painted their clay figures that they made last week, thinking carefully about the size of the paint brush they were using. We made careful choices regarding which paintbrush to use when painting different parts of each creation. The children thought carefully about which colour to use and how to replicate Ancient Egyptian items.
Finally, Walnut class will not have anymore swimming lessons this term. They will begin again after the Christmas holidays. Thank you very much to all of the adults who have supported in the last two terms. It couldn’t go ahead without you.
Have a great weekend.
Mrs Daniells and Mrs Ali.
