Good afternoon.
Through Literacy this week, the children explored writing for a non-fiction purpose, using paragraphs to separate their points. They read further into Blue John, discussing how they thought characters were feeling and why.
In Maths, the children learnt to work systemically by following a logical order. This helped them to identify and reason that they had found all possible solutions. They also built on their place value knowledge, using different operations to finding ways to add, subtract, multiply and divide a given total.
Through Geography, the children identified and discussed the impact of E15 on Iceland in 2010. The children were amazed to learn just how high the volcanic disruption went into the atmosphere and thought about how much impact this had and why. They started to realise that yes volcanoes are jaw dropping however their eruptions cause serious damage. In Art, the children represented their own volcano using watercolours and collage layering. Through PE, they developed their hockey skills even further, including how to accurately hold the hockey stick and how to pass the ball. In music, the children continued to learn their chilled out, clap rap song, identifying the beat of the music and replicating this through accurately spaced claps/beats.
Have a great weekend,
Mrs Daniells and Mrs Ali.
