Walnuts Week 2

We have had a fabulous second week in Walnut Class.

We dived deeper into the story of Robinson Crusoe this week and created setting descriptions using similes. In Maths, we have been exploring the place value of numbers within 1,000 and enjoyed showcasing this knowledge today in a Kahoot quiz.

Through our Art lessons, we explored some of the work of Damien Hirst, thinking about what we liked, disliked and what we thought his inspiration for each piece of art was. It was interesting to see how different our likes and dislikes were within the class! In Geography, we named and located some of the major countries in Europe and began looking at Islands, locating and naming these too using atlases. In Computing, we made sure that everybody could log in using their usernames. Our TT Rockstars usernames are now all in our Reading Records too. In Science, we explored light further. Through an experiment, we came to understand that we need light to help us to see and we created the definition of darkness being the absence of light.

We had our first swimming lesson on Tuesday where we we met our swimming instructors and were put into new groups. Please remember swimming lessons are on Tuesdays. It really helps us to get back to school on time if your child's swimming kit and uniform are named. Please also practise changing with your child as much as you can. We also started PE lessons around the topic of 'Fitness' where we were put to the test through a series of circuit challenges. We were left feeling very sweaty but we persevered! Please remember children are to come into school in their PE kits on Wednesdays.

Have a great weekend and see you next week!
