Term 1 Week 1 4.9.26

Welcome to Cedar Class. We hope you had a fantastic summer. The weather definitely made it a good one to be out and about.

It has been lovely to welcome our new class back and this week we have been settling in, getting to know each other, know the rules and routines and to go over expectations.

We have had a great few days of using our summer holidays to plan and write a piece of text in English. Some wrote a story, a diary entry, description or poem.

In Maths, we have been playing games and exploring numbers before we split into our Year 5 and 6 groups on Monday.

In the afternoons, we have been learning about relationships both online and offline and the use of social media, especially group chats.

We made posters reflecting how to keep safe online and offline and how to maintain healthy relationships.

Information

  • PE will be Thursday morning and Friday afternoon. We will be studying Football and Basketball.
  • Mobile phones - if your child is bringing a mobile phone to school, parents must complete a form so that we can monitor safely who is bringing one in. Information for this will follow shortly. Phones are collected in the morning and stored safely during the day and given out at home time. Your child should only need a phone if they are walking home alone. Please also monitor your child's phone regularly as in the past we have had issues with social media.
  • Walking home alone - if your child is walking home alone, please write a note/letter informing me of this.
  • Kent Test - this will take place for Year 6 children who have been registered on Thursday 10th September in school.
  • Our first class assembly will be on Friday 18th September.

We look forward to a year of amazing children, fun learning and great achievement.

Have a great weekend.
