RWI Pathway videos

Good afternoon!

A big well done to Noah-J and Parker whose hard work made it into Park Way’s Golden Book this week!  Another big well done to those children whose hard work has been recognised in class this week, resulting in them being on our class Oak Tree: Esme, Willow, Zara and Ronnie. If your child’s name isn’t listed - please don’t worry! Everybody will have their chance to shine.

In Maths, we understood that double means two of the same amount and applied this to find doubles within 10. Some of us challenged ourselves to show doubling as both addition and multiplication. We finished the week using our double facts to find near doubles, for example, if 5+5=10 then 5+6 must =11.

In phonics, we have learnt the special friend sounds ‘ir (whirl and twirl)  and ‘ou’ (shout it out). Please ask if you need help accessing these. We are focusing on spelling the sounds within words also so please find some spelling videos attached via the link below too.

In RE, we looked at how different religions show that they care, understanding Zakat (almsgiving) in Islam; tzedakah (charity) in Judaism, and how the Salvation Army, being a Christian based charity, support the community. In Art, we created our own interpretation of LS Lowry’s matchstick people and took inspiration from this to include matchstick people on an image of our playground. The children were very creative! In Science, we consolidated our understanding of the seasons and created a ‘Seasons Disc’, explaining how and why the seasons change as they transition to the next one.

Finally, a huge thank you to all of the parent volunteers who helped us on our trip this week. The children’s behaviour was brilliant and the trip was fantastic- we hope the children felt the same too. We look forward to creating writing around this next week.
