Week 3
This week has been an action-packed fun week with lots of new learning going on in Holly Class.
We began the week learning about Queen Victoria in our History lesson. We learnt what a MONARCH is and noticed how some pictures of Queen Victoria were coloured and some were black and white. On further observation we realised that the coloured portraits were in fact paintings and the black and white portraits were taken using an early version of the camera. We then had to sequence pictures of key events from Queen Victoria's life on a time line; the children were very good at doing this. We also talked about how our childhood is different to Queen Victoria's life - for one, as far as we all know, none of us were born in a palace and we don't have to wait for an adult to hold our hand and walk us down the stairs!
In R.E we talked about how some people believe in God and some don't and how it is ok to have different beliefs and views and that we have to respect each other's views. We learnt about Creation Story from the Bible and sequenced and re-told the story.
In Science this week we continued to observe changes across seasons and have been looking more closely at changes that occur in Autumn. In Art we have begun to study the art work of the artist Claude Monet.
This week in Maths we have been exploring number lines and calculating 1 more and 1 less than a number. We have also started our reading and writing journey in our Read Write Inc groups.
Reading Records will be sent home on Friday 18th September. These will also have login details for all of the apps that we use for our Home Learning. Please log onto Holly Class' Teams page for updates of our learning and important messages, including further details of our Home Learning.
