Year 6 Parents Information Evening
On Wednesday 14th October at 3.30pm in Rowan Class, we will be offering an opportunity for you to find out what this year holds for Year 6. We will discuss SATS, secondary transition, home learning, expectations, how you can support your child and any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you there.
English
This week we have finished watching Goodnight Mister Tom. We have had lots of discussions about how the story might end, wrote diary entries and ended the week with drama by acting out some of the scenes. Next week, we will be planning and writing an independent piece of writing for our hot write.
Maths
Year 6
Year 6 have been revisiting short division using the bus stop method and have been introduced to long division. The children must know their times tables to be successful in this. A few still don't know them, they must be going on TTRS and practicing them. We also looked at BODMAS to solve calculations.
Year 5
Year 5 have been focusing on addition and subtraction using formal written methods. They have been using mental recall and known facts to find missing numbers.
Science
In Science, we went onto the school grounds and made observations of plants by looking at their leaves ready to classify them next week.
RE
This week in RE, we have been learning about Christian beliefs about life after death. We read a poem called Heaven and explored it.
Computing
In Computing, we have continued our work on the Code Breakers of Bletchley Park. The children have been creating a storyboard to create a short movie about Bletchley Park which they will record next week.
History
This week, we have been finding out more about The Blitz, focusing on the causes, the consequences and effects on people.
