We have reached Week 7 of what has been a very busy first term and long term. Children are working well and producing good learning. โญ
โ๏ธ English
This week, the children completed their Hot Write. ๐
They have worked incredibly hard throughout our Goodnight Mister Tom topic, developing their understanding of character, setting and diary writing. It was wonderful to see them independently applying the skills they have been learning over the past few weeks. We are very proud of the effort and progress shown by everyone. ๐
๐ข Maths
Year 6
Year 6 have been finishing our topic on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, consolidating the formal methods and calculation strategies they have been learning this term. โโโ๏ธโ
We have now begun our new topic on fractions, exploring what fractions represent and how they can be compared and ordered.
Year 5
Year 5 have also been completing their work on the four operations and have begun investigating prime numbers and square numbers. ๐๐ข
The children have enjoyed identifying patterns within numbers and applying their reasoning skills to solve mathematical challenges.
๐ฌ Science
This week in Science, we played a game of 'Guess Zoo', using our knowledge of animal groups and characteristics to identify different animals. ๐๐ฆ๐ธ
The children used scientific vocabulary confidently and demonstrated an excellent understanding of the features that help us classify living things.
โ๏ธ RE
In RE, we explored non-religious beliefs about death and what happens afterwards. ๐
The children listened respectfully to different viewpoints and took part in thoughtful discussions, demonstrating maturity and curiosity throughout the lesson.
๐บ๏ธ Geography
This week, we focused on the human and physical features of Maidstone. ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ
The children learned to identify the difference between natural and man-made features before using their knowledge to create their own maps of the local area. There were some fantastic examples of geographical skills on display! โญ
๐พ Harvest Festival
We finished the week by coming together to celebrate our Harvest Festival. ๐ฝ๐
It was a lovely opportunity to reflect on the importance of gratitude, community and supporting those in need.
