Term 1 Week 8!

Hello all!

It's been another busy and exciting week in Year 3/4, with lots of wonderful learning taking place across the curriculum!

In PE, we enjoyed our final session with Coach Ross, putting all of the skills we have developed this term to the test in a class game of Quick Cricket. It was a highly competitive match, with great teamwork, determination and sportsmanship on display. What a fantastic way to end the term!

In Maths, Year 3 continued developing their understanding of the column method for addition and subtraction, including exchanging between place values. They then applied these skills to a range of word problems, demonstrating excellent reasoning and problem-solving skills.  Year 4 have began exploring area by counting squares.

Our Literacy lessons focused on creative writing, exploring how authors use settings, plots and characters to create engaging stories. To finish the week, the children worked collaboratively on a group writing task, combining their fantastic ideas and creativity.

In Science, we continued our exploration of the digestive system, deepening our understanding of how our bodies process food and absorb nutrients.

During R.E., the children thoughtfully reflected on their own beliefs and ideas about how the world was created, sharing their views respectfully and listening carefully to the perspectives of others.

In Art, the children created some amazing Stone Age-inspired artwork using a wide range of materials and techniques. They experimented with watercolours, pastels, charcoal, pencils, colouring pencils, sequins, buttons and glue to produce some truly creative pieces.

Our History lessons focused on consolidating our learning about the Stone Age, revisiting key knowledge and reflecting on everything we have learned throughout the topic.

As part of our Class Conference, we discussed ways of managing emotions, thinking about different strategies we can use when we experience challenging feelings and where we can go for support.

Finally, a huge well done to all of the children for their fantastic class assembly. We are incredibly proud of how confidently they spoke and how brilliantly they showcased their learning from this term. It was wonderful to see them share their achievements with such enthusiasm.

A gentle reminder that Reading Bingo sheets were sent home before the half-term break. Please return completed sheets with your child's name clearly written on them to be entered into the prize draw.

We look forward to welcoming the children back after the break feeling refreshed and ready for another exciting half term. Have a wonderful holiday and, if you're celebrating Halloween, have a FANTASTIC TIME and stay SAFE! 🎃👻 😊
