This week we have been enjoying our new story 'The Gruffalo Child'. We started the week by discussing the characters in the story and then created a class story map to show the different parts and characters the Gruffalo meets along the way. The children enjoyed making their own Gruffalo story map and using their phonics skills to label their pictures.
In Maths we looked at doubles. We explored this through finding a pair of socks and creating doubles using our hands to create a number sentence. We showed making a double number using paint, for example we painted 2 dots and folded it in half to make a double. 2 doubled is 4. We also found Numicon hidden in our classroom and matched it with our number to create a double.
In PE this week we continued with our gymnastics. We moved along a range of apparatus to balance, jump, climb and land safely.
At the start of the week we enjoyed exploring the icy weather, thinking about how it felt and what happened to it when it melted away.
During PHSE, we continued with our theme of discussing challenges and becoming resilient. We completed running races and discussed how it made us feel to take part and not always focus on winning something.
Thank you for all your continued support!
Have a lovely weekend,
The EYFS Team.
