Another wonderful week completed in Rowan Class.
In Literacy we've read up to the end of chapter 5 at which point Lina had a very traumatic experience. Throughout this week the children have drawn on their knowledge of what's been read to write descriptively about the imaginary new city that Lina dreams of, written a thank you letter to Doon for his heroics in saving Poppy as well as a diary entry from the point-of-view of Lina describing the day that Poppy got lost. Really great pieces of writing completed this week, well done.
In Maths our Year 5s have been finding the perimeter of various shapes and applying this to problem solving activities while our Year 6s have been continuing to learn about the relationship between decimals, percentages and fractions and the most practical way to draw comparisons between these.
In History the children had the choice to research and present a timeline about the historic developments of either planes, trains or cars.
In PSHE the children thought about taking ownership and accountability for their own feelings and actions, even in adversity.
In PE we moved onto working in small game play situations, this time adding in defenders.
Finally, on Friday we had a fabulous time walking into town to complete our Carolathon. It was great to see so many of you attending in support. The children had been practicing hard for this and performed excellently.
Have a great weekend everyone.
See you Monday.
