Walnut Class Term 3 Week 3

This week during Literacy, we have been excited to continue with this term's text Blue John. It is a story about a boy made of crystal who lives in the darkness of a cave, desperate to see the outside world. We have used this to inspire our knowledge of caves and how they form. We have created amazing character and setting descriptions.

In Maths Year 4 have been looking at multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100. Year 3 have been looking at related multiplication and division calculations.

In our Science we are looking at rocks, and have started the topic by using microscopes and magnifying glasses to look for similarities and differences between rocks, and the three different types. This week, we have investigated how rocks are formed and created story boards to show the different steps. In our Geography learning we have been doing research about the key aspects of volcanoes and created posters about it. In our Art learning we are looking at the artist Hokusai, and have used his print of Mount Fuji to inspire our own prints.

Have a lovely weekend,

From Mrs Jacobs and Mr Dodd.
