Term 3 week 4

Hello :)

What a wonderful week it has been this week! I have been so impressed with the outstanding learning being produced!

Literacy

This week in literacy we have been really extending and exploring new vocabulary. We have been looking at really challenging our vocabulary choices in our writing and it has been a real delight to see Oak Class push themselves! We have begun a unit on letter writing in Oak Class, still using our focus text of Traction Man to help us, and have been trying to write persuasively in order to get a toy bought for us!

Maths

This week in maths we have begun to look at multiplication. Our focus times tables in Year 2 are our 2,3,5 and 10 times tables and we have been using these to help with identifying what an equal and unequal group is and how to use a method called the bar model to help us find the answers to unknown times tables.

Afternoons

This week has been amazing! We have been looking at the different properties of materials, using our retrieval knowledge to name and identify the objects and their materials around the school and at home before discussing why these materials have been selected. We have looked at sorting our materials based on certain properties that they have and considered different options if we were to design our own objects.

In art, we have been using the skill of sketching to help us explore different ideas. We have been looking at Claude Monet's Sunset in Venice and this week, have used this as inspiration to explore different colour patterns we could use to create our own masterpieces!

I have been so impressed with the attitude towards new learning this week and cannot wait to see it continue :)
