Welcome back to the start of our new academic year!
It has been a busy first week back introducing our new topic, "Island Life" which will involve learning about different islands around the world and what it is like to live on an island. We have started our new topic by pretending that we were stranded on an island. Children had to think how we would survive, what we could find on the island to eat. They built shelters and had to evaluate these shelter to make sure they are strong, waterproof and windproof. They enjoyed it and gained good understanding of what is needed to survive on an Island.
Our learning in Maths was based on a story ‘Spaghetti and Meatballs for all'. Children had to solve problems about fractions, multiplication, division and planned a menu for the reunion party of the main characters.
This term our PE day is every Thursday afternoon, so please ensure children come to school in their PE kits. It is also advisable for them to bring a hat and ensure they have a water bottle in school every day as the weather is hot and unpredictable at the moment.
Have a lovely weekend,
From Mrs Jacobs and Mr Dodd.
