Walnut Class Term 3 Week 1

What a wonderful week we have had in Walnut Class, although it was a short week! The children have all settled beautifully into the new term. They have presented the most amazing learning all week.

We started the week reminding ourselves of the school rules and values.

For our Maths learning this week, we have been learning how to use different written methods to multiply and divide accurately.

For our Literacy learning, we have written a 'Cold Write.' We created our own non-chronological reports based on 'How the Egyptian pyramids were built.'  We have also started our new Literacy text 'Blue John' and has completed reading chapter 1.

Our Science learning this week has focused around identifying different types of rocks. Children have used microscopes and magnifying glasses to identify their characteristics.

During our Art session, we have looked at the great artists' artworks and specifically focused on the artworks of Hokusai.

During our Geography learning we've looked at the different locators around the world and where they are located. We have discussed the significance to global climates, weather and therefore the vegetation and animals that live there. We have than used atlases to identify the lines of latitude and longitude and counties that are on different lines and labelled it on the maps in our books.

Reminders:

Our swimming session is each Tuesday afternoon at Mote Park. Please ensure your child brings their swimming kit and towel to school every Tuesday. Please collect your child from school at 3:15pm as usual.

Our P.E. session is on a Wednesday during Term 3 ( this Term). Please ensure your child is wearing the correct P.E. kit, as identified on our website under the ‘Parents & Carers’ section and then under ‘School Uniform.’

Have a lovely weekend

From Mrs Jacobs and Mr Dodd.
