Term 1 is complete, well done to all of the children for your hard work during this term.
This week we have been looking at GPS in English and learning how to use Year 5 and 6 punctuation to show parenthesis in our writing. We have looked at , : ; - (hyphens and dashes).
In Maths, Year 5 have looked at multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 and looking at multiplying and dividing by multiples of 10, 100 and 1000. Year 6 have been looking at equivalent factions and simplifying them. They have been looking at placing fractions on a number-line, comparing and ordering fractions and looking at finding common multiples to compare fractions. They have begun to add and subtract fractions with different denominators.
In Science, we have looked at habitats and the different animals that live there.
In Geography/History, we explored why the Anglo-Saxons settled in Kent, focusing on Maidstone.
In Computing, we completed our topic of working collaboratively online by producing a scratch game that others can ‘tinker’ with online.
At the end of the week, we watched Narnia. This was linked to our topic on WW2 and Literacy. We compared this to Goodnight Mister Tom and discussed the similarities and differences.
