Welcome back to Term 2. We hope you had a lovely break.
In Literacy this week we have begun to look at poetry. We discussed rivers and wrote a description for a river. Linked to our topic we went on a walk to the river and wrote a poem for our cold write about a river. Next week we will start to read the narrative poem The Highway Man.
In Maths, Year 6 have been looking at how to find the lowest common denominator to add and subtract fractions. They have had to use their knowledge of times tables, multiples and factors and strategies to support this. Many children are struggling with this so we have spent time going over it. Year 5 have been introduced to fractions and looking at how to simplify them and equivalent fractions.
In Science, we have continued to look at Living Things including their Habitats. This week we looked at weird animals and how they are named scientifically. We wrote descriptions for them and created a scientific name for them by their characteristics.
In Geography, we are beginning to look at rivers; thinking about how rivers are formed and the different parts of rivers.
In DT we looked at bridges, which was part of our walk on Tuesday. We are going to design and make a bridge in future weeks.
PE this term is on Monday and Friday. This term we have Tag Rugby with the PASS coach and Fitness.
Bikeability is on Monday for those who signed up. Please come to class to be registered and the instructors will come and get the children. Please put bikes in the bike shed.
Have a lovely weekend.
