What a cold week it has been! As the temperature drops, please ensure your child comes to school wearing a school jumper and a warm coat.
In English this week, we have looked at figurative language and how this is used in our poem ‘The Highwayman’. We have explored metaphors, similes, alliteration and personification. We produced a piece of art work based on the poem and used this to write our own figurative language.
In Maths, Year 5 have continued to look at fractions. We have looked at adding and subtracting, comparing and ordering fractions under and over one whole. Year 6 have also been looking at fractions. They have been looking at dividing fractions and answering questions involving fractions.
In DT this week, the children began to design their bridges ready to input these in to our CAD software. This will mean that the children can see their designs in 3D and we can use augmented reality to see their bridges in the real world.
In Science, we have continued to look at classifying animals and learning to give reasons for decisions made.
In Geography, we have continued to look at rivers (mostly the River Medway). We compared the River Medway from the past to today. The children enjoyed seeing how the river has changed over time.
In RE, we have been looking at values that Christians live by and why they are important to Christians.
In PSHE, we looked at relaxation and different ways to relax. The children have enjoyed the breathing exercises and we are now using these every day.
In PE, we continue with fitness and tag rugby.
All year 6 children had a talk from Alvin (our volunteer who supports with reading and Maths) about the role of magistrates and the legal system. We were impressed with our children's knowledge and the respect and engagement they showed.
A great week Cedar Class!
Thank you to all of the adults who attended parents evening this week.
Have a lovely weekend!
