Term 4 Week 2 7.3.25

Another busy week in Cedar Class!
We have read the first few chapters of 'Cosmic' in Literacy, which has sparked great enthusiasm for diary writing and character descriptions. We have used role play to re-enact some of the scenes where Liam (an 11 year old boy) pretends to be a dad, and Florida (his friend) is his 'daughter'. They get up to all sorts of tricks.
In Maths, Year 5 have focused on rounding decimal numbers, learning how to round them to a whole number and to one decimal place. Later on, we explored percentages, discussing how to represent them visually. Year 6 dedicated their Maths sessions to completing practice SATs papers. Well done, everyone, for your resilience this week!
Our Science lesson took us on an exciting journey through the features of the planets in the Milky Way where we explored temperatures and diameters of the different planets. This enabled us to use our Maths skills of number, place value, shape and scale factors. This will help our understanding when we go to the Science Museum next week.
In Art, we explored different techniques when using watercolour paints. We used these different techniques to paint the planets.
In PSHE, we discussed what and how the court of law works, creating a court through role play and plenty of discussions.
Our DT session saw the design for a 3D solar system model to be made using Tinkercad, which we'll explore further over the next few lessons.
Finally, in PE, we continued our dance lessons linked to natural events and we have started to develop our skills in tennis.
Just a quick reminder: The Science Museum trip is this Thursday (13th March).
Don't forget to wear your SCHOOL UNIFORM, but trainers are allowed!
Have a lovely weekend!
