Term 4 Week 3 14.3.25

We have had a great week of learning.
In Literacy, we have continued to read Cosmic. The story is getting exciting now as the plot thickens. We have written predictions about what we think will happen next and how Liam will convince Florida to go to China with him for the competition he has entered, where he has pretended to be a 'dad'. We have read more about Florida and wrote a description for her. At the end of the week, we did a write up about our trip to the Science Museum.
In Maths, Year 5 have been exploring percentages as decimals. This led onto finding equivalent decimals, fractions and percentages. We also investigated decimals and percentages. We finished the week by looking at the perimeter of rectangles. Year 6 have been learning to find the perimeter and area of rectilinear shapes. Moving on to find the area of a triangle, remembering to multiply the height by the base and divide by 2.
In Art, we explored different techniques using water colours and ready mixed paints. We explored how to create different textures and effects. We will use these techniques to create a painting of a nebula in our next lesson.
In DT, we used Tinkercad to create our designs of the solar system.
In PE, we continued with dance focusing on fire as our theme. We also have been developing our ability to use backhand shots in tennis.
Our Science trip to the Science Museum was amazing, despite the delay on our return due to traffic, which I am truly sorry for. The children were amazing and this trip helped us to consolidate our understanding of space. The children got to see spacecraft and rockets and found out about the history of space. We also were able to look at flight, and medicine through the ages. The children made me feel really proud.
It has been a really productive week and we look forward to continuing our learning next week.
Have a lovely weekend.
