We've had another exciting week of learning in Cedar Class! In English, we’ve continued to dive into Cosmic and have discussed and written predictions about Liam and his adventures to get onto the rocket to go into space. To bring our ideas to life, we used some drama techniques, which really helped us explore our thoughts. We also looked at the 2 astronauts who have just returned from space after being there for 9 months. We explored what life is like without gravity. Next week, we will be writing our Hot Write by describing a setting.
In Maths, Year 5 have been busy investigating the area and perimeter of rectilinear and compound shapes, while Year 6 have been learning about the area of triangles and moving on to finding the volume of 3D shapes. Next week, Year 5 and Year 6 will be learning all about statistics.
In PE, we've been grooving with Street Dance and keeping up with our tennis practice. This week we learnt to do the volley shot.
In Art, we used the techniques we learnt in the previous lesson to create our own nebula paintings.
In DT, we evaluated our solar systems we created on Tinkercad by using AR (Augmented Reality) where we could see our designs in the real world. This was really fascinating. From that we evaluated how we could improve our designs.
In Science, we 'discovered' a new planet completing a table with information about it. We then used AI to create an image of what it might look like.
Meanwhile, in RE, we looked at the art used in the Christian faith.
Lastly, please ensure that all children are accessing the home learning apps we use, including TTRockstars, Ed Shed, Fiction Express, and My Maths. If you need logins, just ask Mrs Rackley.
Have a great weekend.
