Welcome back to Term 5. We hope you had a lovely Easter break.
This week in Literacy we have started to look at Greek myths. We found out what myths were and how the Ancient Greeks believed that myths help them to understand the world they lived in. We created a modern God or Goddess as we discussed what they could be the God/Goddess of in our modern world. We had the Goddess of Smiles, the God of Trading, the God of Social Media. It was interesting. We then planned and wrote a myth about our God/Goddess. Next week we shall look at Pandora's Box and write a newspaper report for our cold write about her.
In Maths, Year 5 have been looking at angles. They have been estimating angles and learning how to use a protractor to measure angles. They have also been exploring missing angles when there is a known angle. Year 6 have also been looking at angles in triangles and quadrilaterals. The have been learning to recognise vertically opposite angles and angles in an isosceles triangle and when triangles are joined to make a new shape.
In Science, we have been finding out how we get night and day through the sun's rotation around the sun and how it can be daylight in some countries and darkness in others.
In History, we looked at chronology. We put British events into chronological order and discussed the impact on modern Britain.
In PSHE, we have been looking at pressure groups and how they campaign to make changes in society. We explored Keep Britain Tidy.
In PE, we have started to learn the skills of throwing and receiving a ball in cricket and how to develop our communication skills when working as a team in OAA.
