Term 6 Week 6 11.7.25

Another busy week as we loom towards the end of the academic year, with plenty of exciting things to do and to complete.
In English, we have been looking at Jabberwocky, a nonsense poem by Lewis Carroll. We planned and wrote 2 poems in different styles for our hot write. The children have written and performed some great poems.
In Maths, Year 5 have been learning about measures with a focus on capacity. They had a practical activity in the sunshine, estimating measure and reading scales. Year 6 are in their final rehearsals for their performance of Oliver next week. It's very exciting and nerve-racking.
In Science, we recapped all of our learning to think about a healthy lifestyle. We watched some TV adverts encouraging the audience to buy their product. We then planned our own advert to promote a healthy lifestyle that we are going to create using iMovie next week to share with the class. I'm so excited for this.
In Computing, we completed our webpages on a holiday destination.
In RE, we have discussed how Christians believe and support environmental issues to save our planet, and what we do to support too.
We had our RSE lessons this week, which the children find extremely embarrassing but actually asked relevant questions and will enter next year with a clearer understanding of themselves and the changes their body will go through.
We had an amazing day at Mote Park on Tuesday. The children absolutely loved Kayaking and their picnic with Cherry Class.
The Festival of Fun proved to be another success. Well done to our Year 5 and 6 girls who made bracelets to sell, giving up their play and lunch times to do so.
End of year!! Please can your child come into school with a carrier bag/school bag by next Wednesday so that they can start bringing home their books and other learning.
