Cherry Class Blog 2024 25 Term 4 Week 2

Welcome everyone to our latest Cherry Class blog.

Another busy week, including a variety of costumes, etc for World Book Day yesterday!

In Literacy, we are moving through the chapters of our classroom text 'Cosmic' and finding out more and more about the main character Liam, who is only 11-12 years old but looks and is treated like an adult. As I mentioned last week, the author is a real-life comedian so the text has been very enjoyable to read so far. Their main writing task this week was to write 'in role' as Liam, in the form of a diary entry.

In Numeracy, Year 5 have looked at decimals and rounding and the last two days have investigated percentages (which I have told them is very important to know, especially as they get older, have their own money and need to work out saving in January Sales and salary increases!) Year 6 spent their Numeracy 'slots' this week practising past-Sat's papers, in preparation for the real thing in a few months time.

In RE we investigated Muslim mosques, in particular their interiors and their use of incredible geometric patterns and light to achieve a welcome space to pray.

PSHE this week looked at laws, courts and what may happen if a crime is committed and a person is sent to trail - we involved the whole class in a mock-up trail, complete with a jury and a very fierce judge!

In computing, the children had an opportunity to design their own Solar System using the the programme 'Tinker Cad' and in Art used pastels to create their own representations of the Solar System.

Have a great weekend everyone, don't forget Science Museum trip next Thursday! There are still four parents who have not signed up or paid yet, please do so as a matter of urgency.
