Cherry Class Blog 2024 25 Term 5 Week 5

Good afternoon parents and welcome to our latest / last blog of Term 5 before everyone enjoys a week away from school uniforms, teachers and the classroom!

In Literacy this week, the class produced a newspaper report linked to Medusa as part of our topic learning linked to Ancient Greek myths. I will mark them over the half term holidays and look forward to seeing the children use such features as facts and opinions, direct and reported speech.

In Numeracy, Year 6 have be problem-solving across the numeracy curriculum, whilst Year 5 have investigated translation, reflection and lines of symmetry

History this week took us back 1200 years to the time of the Vikings and we look in detail at how Vikings actually settled in the UK and were beaten back by King Alfred.

In RE we looked at the idea behind grace and how it relates to the Christian religion; we looked at a thought-provoking parable called 'The Lost Son' to further our understanding.

On Monday we had an external PE teacher and the class competed in some inter-class cricket matches in the sunshine!

Well done for all your efforts this term, have a great break and see you back Tuesday 3rd June!
