Welcome everyone to our FINAL class blog of Term 1! (and what a long first term it has been!)
It seems such a long time ago that we started in the first week of September and a tremendous amount of learning has been achieved in this time frame. The children really enjoyed learning about evacuees and World War Two through our class text 'Goodnight Mister Tom' and produced some excellent non-fiction texts linked to rationing and Anderson Shelters.
In Numeracy, both year groups consolidated their understanding of place value, factors, primes and squared numbers and Year 6 moved onto fractions, which Year 5 will look at when we return in Term 2.
Our Science this term looked at living things and their habitats and we have investigated the various animal groups and how they are classified.
Geography looked at the local area, how Maidstone came by its name and why settlers came to this area so many years ago. We looked at how Maidstone has changed over the years and we'll consolidate this understanding with our learning next term linked to rivers.
PE has been an enjoyable mixture of football on the field and basketball on the playground, and when the weather has become too bad we have played benchball in the hall.
The whole class worked so hard to produce an excellent class assembly earlier in the month and we all look forward to 'producing' a new one in Term 3.
Have a great half-term everyone!
Regards
Mr J Ramsden
