Summer Term 2 - Week 1

Week 1

We have returned from half-term feeling refreshed and ready to conquer the last term of this academic year. Our topic this term is the Olympics and a lot of our learning will be linking into this.

In P.E we began to learn the best formation for running and learnt that it is important that we look up when we are running, keep our knees high and move our arms using 'hips to lips.'  We have also been looking at highlights of past Olympic events.

In English we began to write instructions on how to play a playground game. We will continue to learn about instructions next week.

Year 1s have been learning to calculate quarters of quantities and most of us now know that you can calculate a quarter by halving a number and halving it again. Year 2s have continued to learn how to calculate 1/3 and 3/4 of quantities and have also begun to recognise that 2/4 and 1/2 are equivalent fractions.

In Art this week we looked at the artist Gustav Klimt. He uses a lot of different patterns in his artwork and we imitated this using a media of our choice (photos on our Teams page).  In Science this week we began with retrieval of our knowledge of names of animals and their offspring and then we learnt about the life cycle of a frog.
