Term 6 Week 1

This week has flown past! Already one week into our last term!

Although it has been a lovely 4 day week, the children have had a fantastic start to the term!

Maths: Children have been retrieving their knowledge of halves and quarters and have applied this to problem solving. Children absolutely loved using the manipulatives to solve their problems.

Geography: The children have been using their map reading skills and locational knowledge to create a climate map - we were very good at remembering where the equator is!

Literacy: The children have had a huge focus on split diagraphs as well as retrieval in set 2 and 3 phonemes. We even made aliens to help us identify alien and real words! In addition to this, we had our first attempt at writing a set of instructions for a game we like to call "Stuck in the Mud."

Art: The children learnt about a wonderfully creative artist called Gustav Klimt; we had a go at creating patterns inspired by him.

Science: The children learnt about what is an offspring and the life cycle of a butterfly, frog and human.

PE: In PE, we are very fortunate to have the coach this term; we have started playing team games as well as athletes to link with our theme of Olympics and in the lead up to sports day :)

RE: We learnt what makes us special and what is meant by "to belong".

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and see you Monday bright and early!

Reminder:
