Term 1 week 7

Hello :)

This week Oak Class have excelled in their learning and produced some outstanding pieces of writing.

English

In English we have been learning about Sir Tyrwhitt-Drake who was once the mayor of Maidstone. He lived in a manor house called Cobtree Manor where he built his own private zoo. Oak Class have been learning all about our own local history and helped design the zoo for the mayor, ensuring that certain animals are kept away from each other! Today they wrote recounts as if they had visited the zoo before it closed.

Maths

In maths we have been looking at doubling numbers and general number knowledge. We have been using the part/whole model in order to help us find missing numbers and solve problems!

Afternoons

In history this week we have continued to learn about the Wright brothers who invented the first engine powered plane. We looked at being able to sequence events chronologically by creating a timeline of the different modes of transport that fly!
