End of Summer Term 1: 23/05/2025

Wow, what an amazing first half of the Summer Term we’ve had! The children have been busy, producing a wealth of learning and successfully completing their SATs. A massive well done to Rowan Class for all their hard work—your effort truly shines through!

This week, in English, we've wrapped up our Greek Myth topic by creating newspaper reports based on the myths we've explored. The creativity of the children has been outstanding! Meanwhile, in Maths, our Year 5 pupils have been delving into coordinates, translating shapes, and mirroring images on a mirror line. Year 6 has kicked off rehearsals for our leavers play - Oliver!, with the cast being announced just yesterday. The children who are not rehearsing will still focus on Maths; reinforcing their learning through retrieval tasks and challenges designed to enhance their reasoning skills.

In PE, the children loved playing in a cricket match, applying all the skills they've honed, and engaged in team-building activities during Outdoor Adventurous Activities (OAA). In RE, we've explored the remarkable life and teachings of Gandhi, which sparked some fantastic discussions. Artistically, the children have crafted beautiful pots inspired by ancient Greek designs.

Historically, we investigated why the Vikings chose to settle in parts of Britain, uncovering fascinating tales of Viking rivalries!

We cannot wait for the next term, which promises even more excitement.

Just a quick reminder: PE days remain the same on Thursday afternoons and Friday mornings.

Sports Day is on Monday 30th June

Class Assembly is scheduled for Friday 6th June.

Please remember the importance of correct uniform at all times—no bracelets or necklaces, and remember to remove false nails before the school day. Long hair should be tied up, too. Thank you for your continued support!

Have a lovely week off.

We will see you back on Tuesday 3rd June!

Be safe all,

Mr Bowles, Mrs Morris, Miss Rackley and Ms Prentice.
