Term 1 is done, well done to all of the children for their hard work during this term.
Some big things are coming Rowan’s way in Term 2 – we will be testing ‘Flexible Seating’ in Term 2. We cannot wait to see how this works and learn together how we learn best. We will be opening the classroom for our adults to see the new seating a few weeks into the new term.
This week we have been looking at GPS in English and learning how to use Year 5 and 6 punctuation in our writing.
In Maths, Year 5 have looked at multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 and looking at multiplying and dividing by multiples of 10, 100 and 1000. Year 6 have been looking at equivalent factions and simplifying them. They have been looking at placing fractions on a number-line, comparing and ordering fractions and looking at finding common multiples to compare fractions.
In Science, we have looked at habitats and the different animals that live there. In Geography/ History, we explored why the Anglo-Saxons settled in Kent, focusing on Maidstone. In Computing, we completed our topic of working collaboratively online by producing a scratch game that others can ‘tinker’ with online.
To end the week, the children were rewarded with a movie due to all children being in our prize jar (this was linked to our WW2 learning).
Well done Rowan Class. Have a lovely holiday and a break.
DON’T FORGET: TT Rockstars challenge. Cedar VS Rowan VS Cherry – who is the best class on TT Rockstars?! (I know it will be Rowan!)
NEW PE DAYS FOR TERM 2: Thursday and Fridays.
We cannot wait to see you (in our new classroom!) on Monday 4th November!
