Term 3, Week 5 (7/2/25)

Hello everyone!
Just one more full week until half term and a much-needed rest! The children have been incredibly busy, and it’s wonderful to see their hard work paying off.
In English, we’ve been concentrating on our letter of complaint about the Demon Headmaster, which we’re addressing to the Governors of Hazelbrook Academy. It's been a delightful challenge, and next week, we'll wrap up the book and dive into creating Newspaper Articles to spread the word about the Evil Headmaster's misdeeds!
In Maths, Year 5 have just completed their topic on fractions, where they found fractions of amounts, identified wholes, and multiplied fractions. Next week, we'll transition into four weeks focused on decimals. Year 6 has been tackling the multiplication and division of decimal numbers by integers, applying real-world scenarios to enhance understanding. Next week, they'll progress to exploring fractions and converting them into decimals and percentages.
This week, we also had the pleasure of studying the talented musician Lindsey Stirling and her musical influences. The highlight was when the children sang “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” by Green Day. It sparked some fantastic discussions about our musical tastes!
In Science, we concluded our investigation on how to make batteries from lemons, and the children diligently wrote up their findings.
Our RE lesson focused on Hajj, prompting thoughtful conversations about why Muslims embark on the pilgrimage to Mecca. We’ll be finishing this topic next week.
In PE, we’ve enjoyed playing hockey; it’s fantastic to witness the children embracing this new sport with such enthusiasm.
Finally, in PSHE, we delved into First Aid and proudly collected our Basic First Aid certificates.
Wishing everyone a great week ahead!
