It's the end of Term 3. Everyone ha worked so hard, I'm so proud of them.
This week in our Literacy learning we looked at using formal language and captions and the types of genres these would be used in. We ended the term by watching the film, The Iron Giant which was inspired by our book this term. We discussed how the film had taken inspiration from the book and the similarities and differences between the film and the book.
In Maths Year 3 have been continuing to look at calculating perimeter of different shapes. Year 4 have started to look at fractions. We have looked at mixed fractions and different ways we can represent them.
In our final History lesson of this term, we looked at the fall of the Roman Empire and the reasons why the Romans left Britain and the impact it had on the country.
In PSHE we looked at how to avoid scams and phishing when online as part of Internet Safety Week.
In RE we looked at the difference between right and wrong, and analysed the story of Adam and Eve and how this illustrates temptation.
Next term we will begin our new topic Shake it! This will look at states of matter and how they can change. We will also be looking at trade around the world and how food is imported and exported.
Please remember we have a staff training day on 28th and the school will be closed.
Year 3 and 4 World Book Day
Next term, during the week beginning 3rd March, we will be looking at the story ‘The Matchbox
Diary.’ This is about a man who has collected tiny objects from around the world which remind
him of a special time in his life. We will be making our own matchboxes during the week and
would love the children to bring in a small object (less that 7cm/able to fit inside a matchbox)
which they can tell the class about and explain what it means to them. This could be a passport
photograph, a piece of jewellery, a hair band, a bottle cap, a coin or whatever they can think of.
Over half term could children please begin to think about what they might like to bring in, and
what it means to them. If they are unable to find something, they could use the half term to look
for something that reminds them of an activity during the half term break.
The will not need to be brought into school until World Book Day on 6th March.
We hope you have a lovely half term break. See you back on Monday 24th February.
From Mrs Jacobs and Mrs Bramwell.
