This week we have been focusing on descriptive writing for our Literacy. We have looked at some of the writing features we can use to make our stories more detailed and engaging for the reader. We started the week with a 'Let's say' lesson where we were cave explorers and found something amazing at the end of the cave. We then used noun phrases to describe what we could see and looked at ways we could create suspense to keep the reader guessing about what could happen.
In Maths, Year 3 have been looking at subtracting numbers across 10 and 1, and then applying our skills so far to the formal method for addition. Year 4 started the week by looking at methods for mental addition and subtraction before looking at the formal method for addition including exchanges.
In our History learning we wrote diary entries as if we were Bronze age people and wrote about the amazing changes in our lives since the discovery of Bronze. In Art we looked at sketching techniques to try and sketch real life objects like the people of the Stone Age would have attempted to do.
During our Geography lesson, we used atlases to locate the key rivers and settlements in the United Kingdom. During RE we learnt about the Hindu creation story.
We would like to thank all of the adults who came along to our class assembly to hear about our learning from this term.
Have a blessed last week of Term 1.
