Term 5 Week 2

In Literacy this term we are reading The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau. This week we have started to read the story. We have written a character description, a diary entry, and a prediction. We are beginning to make links with the plot of the story.

In Maths this week, Year 5 are learning to recognise angles on a straight line and in shapes and calculating missing angles. Year 6 have been learning to measure angles using a protractor. We have been learning how many degrees are in a straight line and a full turn. We have looked at vertically opposite angles and how to find missing angles using the knowledge that we have. We finished the week by calculating the angles in a triangle.

In Science, we explored how light travels in a straight line. We investigated this using card by inserting a hole in the card and shining the light through the hole in the card.

In Computing we created algorithms. We explored how to make a selection to create an output. We looked at how this is used in traffic lights and pedestrian crossings.

In PE this term we are learning to play cricket and OAA (Outdoor Adventure Activities). PE will be on 2 days a week: Thursday and Friday. Please ensure your child wears the PE kit as per the school policy.

This term Year 6 will sit their SATS. These will take place between Monday 13th May and Thursday 16th May.

School is closed on Thursday 2nd May for Polling Day and Monday 6th May as it is Bank Holiday.

ON MONDAY 29.4.24 THERE IS A MEETING AT 5.30PM FOR THE PARENTS OF THE CHILDREN WHO ARE GOING ON THE BEWL WATER TRIP.

Have a lovely weekend.
