Term 5 Week 4

In Literacy this week, we continued reading The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau. We explored what the Unknown Regions might look like and discussed what the new city would look like that Lina imagined. We then planned and wrote descriptions for a new city and imagined what it would look like. Many children thought it might be futuristic.

In Maths this week, Year 5 are learning about lines of symmetry and reflecting images on a mirror line. Year 6 have learnt to recognise nets for 3D shapes. They have been learning about coordinates within 4 quadrants, looking at each quadrant and their numbers. They have been learning to translate shapes in 4 quadrants and then look at how to reflect shapes in 4 quadrants.

In science we explored shadows and made puppets looking at how light is used to change their shape ad size.

In Computing we used the micro bits and continued to explore input and selection.

For PE, cricket will be on Thursday. Our session on Friday will be with Commando Josh, working on OAA and team building activities.

YEAR 6 SATS WILL BE ON NEXT WEEK FROM MONDAY 13TH MAY UNTIL THURSDAY 16TH MAY. ALL YEAR 6 CHILDREN ARE INVITED TO COME TO THE YEAR 6 BREAKFAST CLUB IN THE THE GOLD ROOM FROM 8.15AM.
