Term 5 Week 6 24.5.24

Well done for a great assembly. Thank you everyone who came to support.

In Literacy this week, we continued reading The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau. We wrote a diary entry, an informal letter and wrote a prediction for the instructions and what they said and meant.

In Maths this week, Year 5 are learning how to add and subtract numbers with up to 2 decimal places. Year 6 worked on a project over the week. We compared prices so we looked at value for money and using all 4 operations involving money. We explored recipes and how to increase or decrease ingredients if you had a recipe for 6 cupcakes and we wanted to make 12 or 9. We then looked at profit and loss and completed the week by creating nets and making 3D shapes as packaging.

In science we created colour wheels. We then spun them and shone a torch on them to explore white light.

In Computing we used the micro bits and continued to explore input and selection.

In PE we played mini cricket matches against each other and Cherry Class. We also played team games with Commando Josh.
