Cherry Class Blog Term 6 Week 2

Good afternoon parents and welcome to our latest Cherry Class blog.

This week was VERY different, as for half the week, 35% of the class were at their annual residential trip to Bewl Water. A great time was had by all and they engaged in a range of activities such as raft building, archery, axe- throwing, bushcraft (including building and lighting a fire), paddle-boarding and canoeing. Behaviour was generally excellent and it was an enjoyable time for the children.

The children who remained at Park Way were engaged in a number of different activities such as story writing (a 'twisted tale' involving three not-so-nice pigs and a wolf!), numeracy problem-solving and challenges including making nets, forestry school with Mr Bowles and art with Mrs Ord.

For the remaining two days we all picked up from where we left off a week ago, and continued with our class text 'City of Ember' in Literacy and decimals for Year 5 and budgets and currency for Year 6 numeracy. We had a very enjoyable game of handball this morning in PE and team-buildings activities also.

Have a great weekend everyone

I'm off next week as I'm having an operation, and the class will be in the very capable hands of Miss Hayes and Mrs Stokes, the class TA.

See you all in a week's time.
