This week we have focused on the story ‘What the Ladybird Heard.’ The children were able to name the different animals and discussed where the farm animals might live on the farm. The children enjoyed drawing their own farm maps while listening to the story. They then challenged themselves to label their farm with the names of the animals using their phonics knowledge.
In Maths this week we have looked at numbers. We have focused on making different amounts on a tens frame using magnetic stars. We then looked at putting an amount of pom poms in a jar and using our subitising skills to say how many pom poms were in the jar before making this number on our tens frame.
In PHSE we discussed what makes a ‘good friend’. We spoke about linking this back to our emotions and how our friends make us feel. We made a friendship soup adding all the positive words of a ‘good friend’ to our soup.
On Friday we had an amazing time at the farm. We were very proud of how well behaved the children were and how great their listening skills were. We spent time with the highland cows and saw some new lambs that have only been born this week! We also looked at the different machines they use on a working farm. Lastly, we finished with a tractor ride and lunch in the woodland area.
Thank you for your continued support this term,
Have a lovely weekend,
The EYFS Team.
