Week 2
This week in Maths, Year 2s have been learning about money. We have been learning to recognise the value of British coins and notes and also to make a value using different coins. We have been exploring different ways to make 20p, 50p and £1. This has opened up great discussions about why it wouldn't be possible to make 50p using just 20p coins and why we can't just pay 50p using 30p and 20p.
Year 1s have continued to explore capacity with Miss Bird and Mrs Russell.
In English we have been reading our focus text, 'The Last Wolf' by Mini Grey. We have been showing our understanding of the plot by sequencing events in the story. We have also been learning to use expanded noun phrases for description.
In Science this week we have continued to learn about the functions of the different parts of a plant (root, leaves, flower and stem). In Computing we learnt to use labels to sort information. We have been exploring the art work of David Best, trying to copy his patterns.
