This week, children have started studying the book 'The Day the Crayons Quit' by Drew Daywalt. This is a book where various crayons write to their owner (Duncan) moaning about how they're being used. Children wrote a letter to Oak Class as if they were a rubber, moaning about being misused. Their enthusiasm has been amazing and it's been wonderful to see them so engaged with a book.
In Maths, we have been continuing with fractions and children have been learning how to find 1/4 and 1/3 of shapes and amounts. We have also been learning about unit fractions.
Our afternoons have been busy learning about life cycles in Science, the similarities and differences between Elizabeth I and Elizabeth II, and even had a live lesson delivered by Julia Donaldson. Children got to meet (virtually) some real-life flying doctors.
