In literacy we are continuing to look at the features of a biography and the children have written an opening paragraph about the athlete Usain Bolt, remember to include the 5 W’s of who, what, where, why and when. They have then moved on to his early life writing a paragraph using this as a subheading. They used prepositions to show how events moved forward in chronological order.
In Maths, Year 3 moved on to finding how many minutes make up an hour and how many seconds make a minute. We put this to the test when creating their own competitions, such as testing who could say the alphabet in the quickest number of seconds. We looked at duration and what this means and used previously taught methods to calculate start and finish times. We also used given start and finish times to calculate the duration of an event. Whilst Year 4 began the week recapping positional language we already knew and when we might we use this language in everyday life. We then revisited triangles, identifying different triangles and then used our knowledge of angles to accurately identify the types of triangle we can find.
In science, we are learning about healthy eating and ensuring that you eat the right amounts of different types of food (carbohydrates, proteins, fats, fibre, minerals and vitamins) that humans need to keep healthy and grow.
Please remember that your child will need to bring a pair of pyjamas (not fluffy or a onesie) to our swimming lesson on Monday.
