Week ending 22nd May 2026

It’s hard to believe that we have now reached the end of Term 5!  It has absolutely flown by and we are hurtling towards the end of the school year.

This week in Literacy, the children have completed an independent piece of writing based on the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We have also finished reading the book, which proved a huge hit with Maple Class.

In Maths, Year 3 moved on to look at money, recapping our knowledge of different coins and making different amounts. We converted pence to pounds, understanding that 100p makes £1 and used the £ and p signs accurately. We finished the week with a visit to the 'shops' where we added two or three items together to find the total amount spent. Year 4 have calculated different ways to make the same amount, found greater or less than amounts and used a number line to calculate change.

During the term, the children have designed and made their own kites as part of our DT learning.  Today we were able to visit Mote Park to give them the opportunity to fly them.  Shall we say that some were more successful than others but it was lovely to see all the children trying their best and enjoying themselves.

Have a wonderful holiday, see you on 1st June
