Welcome everyone to our final blog of Term 5
A shorter term, and a slightly different one, in that our Year 6's had their SATs exams towards the end of the term. With only one term to go, we move into the 'best' one in my opinion, as the weather improves and the children start to think about next year, in particular our Year 6's who have fun events to look forward to like their Leavers' Assembly and after-school party.
This week in class we have read (a lot!) more of our class text 'The City of Ember' and the children produced two excellent independent pieces of writing, writing in role as the main character Lina and as the Mayor of Ember, who had the job of convincing the citizens of Ember that their city was not falling apart!
In Numeracy Year 6 had the opportunity to plan, design and make their own board games whilst Year 5 concentrated on addition and subtraction of decimal numbers.
In Humanities we looked at UNESCO sites around the UK (such as Ironbridge, Tower of London, Hadrian's Wall, the city of Bath) and the children produced some learning comparing a UK site with an overseas one (such as the Great Wall of China)
In RE we learnt about synagogues and in PSHE how budgets 'work' and the expenses that will come as a teenager and beyond........!
Have a great week off everyone, well done for all your efforts this term!
Regards
Mr J Ramsdn
