Welcome to Term 6! The children have settled back into routines well. We hope you enjoyed the sunshine last week!
In Maths, Year 3 started the week identifying Roman Numerals to 12 and locating these on an analogue clock face. We then recapped our understanding of o'clock, half past and quarter past/to times using our own clocks that we created. We also read these times on analogue clocks and represented them, drawing the hour and minute hands as accurately as possible. We finished the week comparing analogue time with digital time. Please encourage the children to tell the time at home, either with an analogue or digital clock.
Year 4 have also been exploring time, converting years to months and weeks to days. We then moved on to read, write and convert time between analogue and digital 12- and 24-hour clocks.
In Literacy, we moved on to look at biographies and their features. We recapped our understanding of chronological order and ordered paragraphs using this. We created appropriate subheadings for each paragraph when looking at the biography of Mo Farah. We reviewed the mood a sentence can have, depending on the vocabulary choices and reflected this when making our own vocabulary choices to fit a given mood.
In History, we used clues through puzzles to identify that our next time period to focus on is the Ancient Greeks! We used information books to find facts that particularly interested us and used sources, such as images of ancient jars, to investigate what they told us about Ancient Greece. In PE, we worked in teams to carry out relay races as part of our Athletics unit. We learnt to run using our hands to give us a boost, moving them from hips to lips with every pace. In Computing, we created our own animation flip books, showing the gradual movement of a character by altering small features on each page. In Music, we learnt another call and response song and used instruments to represent different verses. We had to listen and follow the beat carefully as part of a class performance. In Spanish, we moved on to learn a different six items found in the classroom.
Have a great weekend.
