Summer Term 2- Week 1

Week 1

Welcome back after half-term.  We have wasted no time in hitting the ground running with our learning. In Maths both Year 1s and Year 2s have been exploring fractions.  We have been learning to halve numbers and shapes.  We have also learnt how to use Bar Models to halve a quantity.

On Friday we came to the classroom to find that our chairs had gone on strike. We received an email from the School Office that told us the chairs were upset with how they were being mistreated and disrespected in Holly Class.  We decided to use our English lesson to write letters and notes to the chairs, promising to take better care of them and apologising for our behaviour.  We had to write these without the chairs which was an interesting experience (See our Teams page for photos).  Luckily it worked and after playtime our chairs were back.

In Science this week, we learnt about animals and their offspring. We enjoyed learning about the names of animal babies and learnt many new names such as kid, calf, foal, pup and cub.  In History this week we learnt about Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Elizabeth II and compared their portraits.

It has been a very exciting week and we look forward to what next week brings.
